The job of lithographer consists of making prints of works of art using limestone. The process begins with the preparation of the stone, which is grained to obtain a smooth surface. The artist draws directly on the stone with brushes, fatty oils, paint or fatty ink.
Next, the lithographer inks the fatty parts of the drawing, cleans the stone with gum arabic to remove impurities, then begins printing. He moistens the stone and presses it on a sheet of paper. For color prints, several stones are used, one for each color.
The lithographer mixes the colors and prepares the printing form precisely. After printing, he checks the result with the artist and makes any necessary adjustments. This know-how allows us to create unique and original works.
