About
Laurent Barotte was born in 1961 in Giromagny. It was in Besançon that he obtained his watchmaker-repairer CAP in 1980 and in Le Locle that he graduated as a clockmaker from the School of Watchmaking in 1984. He opened his workshop in 1990 in Friborg and between in education from 1994.
His skills earned him prestigious restorations, including the Berbatte and Saint-Ursanne clocks, equipped with a monumental movement, as well as the Saint-Petersburg clock.
"The class where Laurent Barotte teaches (watchmaking section of the Technical Division - DIVTEC - of the Jura Center for Education and Training, in Porrentruy) has become his workshop.
With his students, he created the clock for the 100th anniversary of DIVTEC and participated in the creation, manufacture and installation of the JURA-QUEBEC clock, a grandiose collective work. In 2016, he restored, with his students, the clock of the Town Hall of Porrentruy dated 1761.
