About
Regula Berger-Haupt is the first European professor of the Hakuhô Koshiki Kumihimodô (Kumihimo school) and teaches at the Basel Vocational School and the Bern School of Design. Kumihimo (Japanese belt braiding) is considered a traditional craft in Japan.
Braiding a ribbon or cord is not only the creation of a work of art, but serves to shape the whole person.
Kneeling in front of the braiding device, you cross the threads and move your body rhythmically. On the one hand deeply focused, on the other hand with creative impulse, Kumihimo promotes the sense of rhythm and harmony through the joy of braiding. Kumihimo's intensive study always yields amazing insights into the art of weaving, sharpens understanding of complicated weaving processes, and brings inner peace through meditative work.
