Anne Cavallini
Artisan bookbinder and book restorer
Chamblon

« I have been practicing this profession for several decades and I am happy about it. It is the common thread of my life. »

About

Anne Cavallini has always loved paper and anything related to the creation of objects in general. After a few internships, she turned to bookbinding and never left it again. She trained in a workshop in Lausanne and then, among others, at the Centro del Bel Libro in Ticino. In 1986, she started her own business. At the same time, she worked for various institutions and taught bookbinding.

« In creation, you have to test, search, calculate, cut, stick, mix, etc. Which I really like. »

In her workshop in Chamblon, Anne Cavallini treats and restores paperbacks, golden books and a Bible dating from 1789. All these objects have in common that they have suffered from the wear and tear of time. With patience, meticulousness and creativity, she restores their original appearance to allow them to continue to survive the centuries.
