Luc Chappuis was not born with a passion for stone: his first vocation was to drive locomotives. During his apprenticeship as a mechanic-electrician, he repairs machines at a stonemason’s, tries out a few out of curiosity and falls in love. He then left his training and taught himself how to carve stone before creating his business in 1979.
It was on the family farm in Cuarnens that Luc Chappuis began his activity as a stonemason before settling in the craft area of the Isle. His company, housed in premises made entirely of stone, now has eight employees and specializes in particular in the size and renovation of fountains. He is also president of the Romande Association of stone trades.
