About
At the same time as an apprenticeship as a locksmith, Joseph Currat was introduced to artistic ironwork, knowledge which he later deepened with a Parisian specialist. Since he was 20, he has worked at the Vallorbe Iron Museum as a museum blacksmith. In 2013, he founded with Léonard Dupasquier the Group of metal craftsmen (GAM) which is active in the restoration of old ironwork.
In his workshop in La Sarraz or in the forge of the Iron Museum, Joseph Currat perpetuates a thousand-year-old craft. Loving to share his knowledge, he is at the origin of various courses and exhibitions within the museum. With the GAM, he specialized in the restoration of historical monuments for both private clients, like the restorer Philippe Chevrier in Geneva, and public clients.
