Felicitas Holzgang
Ceramist
Bonfol

« My favorite thing to do is jugs. I know that the object I shape will be a source of sharing between people. »

About

Born in Küssnacht am Rigi, Felicitas Holzgang arrived in Bonfol to train with the last potter in the village. After 2 years of fellowship and 2 years of study in Germany, she returned to the country as a qualified master ceramist and opened her workshop. She makes utilitarian objects such as fondue pots or works of art. She collaborates with other artisans and creates unique pieces according to the desires of her customers.

« When we turn, the hands must direct the earth. And not the other way around. It is a physical job and all sudden movements must be avoided. »

Felicitas Holzgang begins by choosing between clay, caquelon clay or tile clay. She then kneads the raw material, sometimes several kilos, and places it in the center of her lathe. Then comes the shaping, all in delicacy, before going into the oven, a source of surprises. She sells her pieces to individuals in her studio and participates in numerous competitions and exhibitions.
