Laurent Jaquet chose the profession of bookbinder for the variety of tasks, the diversity of materials and of course the book, the very object of the trade. Apprenticed in the Boulenaz workshop in Vevey, he finished his training in 1986 and completed it at the Centro Del Bel Libro art bookbinding school in Ascona in Ticino. He perfected his art in Geneva by taking an interest in the restoration of old books.
In 1998, Laurent Jaquet opened his own workshop in Aigle. His varied work ranges from contemporary bookbinding to the preservation of notarial registers and the restoration of old books. His works are exhibited in several bookbinding competitions to which only craftsmen who have demonstrated the excellence of their work can enter. Since 2010, Laurent Jaquet has chaired the association ARA Suisse, Les Amis de la Reliure d'Art.
