Always passionate about woodworking, Mathias trained in sculpture, turning and gilding on wood. He enjoys researching innovative shapes and designs that he combines with ancestral know-how. In his workshop, he gives courses and training in the arts of wood for beginners and initiates. In 2019, he won the first prize for Relève Métiers d’art.

« I work with hundreds of different gouges so I can fit any curve and give each finished piece a unique look. »

Mathias works with local wood that he selects himself in the forest, in a garden or in a sawmill. After roughing out the raw wood using machines, he finishes his creations with a gouge and adapts to the curves of the wood to give each piece its uniqueness. His lamps, sculptures, bowls, candlesticks and other personal creations are exhibited in Switzerland and abroad.
