Matthias Maurer apprenticed with Ambrosius Pfaff in Locarno and obtained his CFC as a piano maker in 2002. He perfected his technique and know-how with Steinway & Sons in Hamburg and Bösendorfer in Vienna and worked successively with Hanlet in Paris, Hug in Lausanne, Le Clavier in Montreux.

Specialized in tunings and repairs, the workshop that Matthias Maurer opened in 2012 collaborates with renowned pianists, for concerts, recordings and festivals. He is the official tuner of the Montreux Jazz Festival, the RTS, the Lausanne University of Music and the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. He is a member of the Swiss Association of Piano Makers and Tuners.
