Hélène Montero
art binder
Lausanne

« I like to think of binding as a work of architecture. I conceive the book in its relation to its functionality and from this, I define its structure and its material. »

About

After studying in France and Belgium, Hélène Montero moved to a bookbinding workshop in Lausanne. From the design of the structure to the choice of paper, she works for artists, institutions or individuals. She organizes, among other things, printing and bookbinding workshops with graphic designer Stéphanie Tschopp. She also works in art schools.

« I am an expert in a step that depends on many other actors: artists, publishers, graphic designers, printers or paper manufacturers. The exchange is always rich and essential. »

In 2016, Hélène Montero and her graphic designer collaborator Raphaël founded the Plein Papier concept. Each year, they produce a new limited-edition collection, including a diary co-published by the Art&fiction association. With the help of shears, glues, brushes and presses, Hélène Montero gives life to their joint projects.
