Florian Despond spent his childhood holidays with his neighbour, Jean-François Pasquier, himself a master tavillonneur. It is therefore quite naturally that the passion is transmitted from master to student. Florian Despond first learns the trade of lumberjack and then perfects himself in that of woodcutter. He is the only craftsman of his generation to practice this profession.

Independent since 2006, Florian Despond provides all roofing work. But his passion is shingles and shingles, which are more elongated. He works on mandate for public authorities as well as for individuals. A member of the Romande Association of Tavillonneurs, he is very active in the Pays-d’Enhaut Regional Park Days. In 2015, he received the Vaud Intangible Cultural Prize.
