Bern - Creators at the Swiss Alpine Museum

Atelier Alpes exhibition from October 18, 2019 to September 27, 2020

The Atelier Alpes exhibition presents women and men craftsmen from the Swiss Alps. Thanks to their creativity and perseverance, these women and men create not only quality products, but also new perspectives. It is not an idealized world that you see here, but the reality of everyday life: in today’s digitized and globalized world, what does it mean to manufacture a product with your hands? What place does manual work still occupy today in current craftsmanship – in skis, boots, shingles?

The museum is transformed into a workshop where the various artisanal companies of the mountain settle down – personally or through sound and image. These give an idea of their know-how and show what craftsmanship represents today: from local raw materials to marketing, including traditional production techniques.

Several days a week, male and female craftsmen transfer their place of work within the exhibition. The public is invited to watch them work and engage in an exchange with them.
