The European days of crafts could be added to the catalog of events in the canton of Bern. The Executive Council indicated in response to an interpellation that it was in favor of it.

The canton of Bern could follow in the footsteps of its neighbors and join the Swiss Association of Crafts. The Executive Council would in any case see it in a positive light. He thus responded to an interpellation filed by the socialist Hervé Gullotti. The MP for Tramelan asked if Bern could consider joining this organization, which promotes professions such as blacksmiths, glassblowers or ceramists.

A helping hand for artisans

Last year, European Crafts Days attracted 1.2 million people in 19 countries. The canton could also benefit from the influence generated by this event. The Bernese government believes that synergies could be found with the neighboring cantons of Neuchâtel and Jura, which are already taking part in this action. He also underlines that the accession of a bilingual canton would make it possible to build a bridge between French-speaking Switzerland, already largely involved, and the German-speaking cantons. The Executive Council is therefore ready to pay the annual fee of 5,000 francs to join the Swiss Association of Crafts.

Concerning support for regional professional, tourist and economic associations that would engage in the organization of the event, the Bernese government specifies that it would study the possible provision of human and/or financial resources. /mdu
