First edition of the Swiss Crafts Awards - Call for applications

A new prize list aimed at rewarding craftsmen working in Switzerland

The Swiss Association of Crafts (ASMA) is strengthening its support for crafts by creating a new prize list aimed at rewarding craftsmen working in Switzerland. Today, it is launching a call for applications for the Design & Métiers d’art Prizes and for the Emerging Craftsmen Prizes. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, September 3, 2018. The projects will be examined by a jury composed of expert personalities at Swiss and international levels in the field of fine crafts and their challenges. This jury will also award, through its own research, a Swiss Master of Art Prize.

Among its goals, the Association Suisse des Métiers d’Art (ASMA) has set itself the mission of honoring and rewarding fine craftsmen practicing in Switzerland who are distinguished for their excellence, either by awarding prizes or by participating in juries aiming at the same goal. The first ASMA awards will award:

Swiss art master

(one price)

This prize rewards an emeritus craftsman for all his work and his influence, in Switzerland and abroad.
CHF 10,000

Design & Crafts

(first prize, second prize and third prize)

These prizes will reward the collaboration between craftsmen and designers. The first prize is endowed with CHF 10,000 for the design of the object and CHF 10,000 for the creation of the object. This reward is offered by our national partner CA Indosuez (Switzerland) SA.

Young craftsmen

(first prize, second prize and third prize)

These prizes will reward the talent and strong development potential of young craftspeople. The first prize is endowed with CHF 10,000.

Fields: wood - stone - applied arts - watchmaking and jewelery - leather - paper - metal - clay - textiles - glass - instrument making

The jury is made up of expert personalities at Swiss and international level in the field of fine crafts and/or involved in vocational training, in schools and museums of design and applied arts and in the conservation of intangible cultural heritage. .

The official award ceremony will take place on Friday February 1, 2019 as part of artgenève at Palexpo.
