First prize for the next generation of artistic professions - Mathias Lecocq, wood turner and sculptor in Château-d’Œx

This prize rewards the talent and strong development potential of a young craftsman. The first prize is endowed with CHF 10,000.

Do not be fooled by the young age of Mathias Lecocq because his hands bear witness to ancestral traditions. With them, the art of carving and turning wood would almost lose its secrets. The branches turn, the shavings fly away under the blows of the gouges and the inner beauty of this noble material with a thousand essences is gradually revealed before our amazed eyes. Sometimes animal sculptures, sometimes lamps with gnarled trunks or candlesticks with refined shapes, his creations reflect his raw passion and his perfectly mastered know-how. Moreover, they invite us to dream and awaken in us an irresistible need to touch them and feel the pulse of the forest.
