Le Chenit - The future Parliament clock is taking shape at the Technical School of the Vallée de Joux

State of Vaud official website, Office of Information and Communication of the State of Vaud, June 20, 2019

In 2022, the clock imagined and designed by the students then manufactured, decorated and assembled by the apprentices of the Technical School of the Vallée de Joux (ETVJ) will adorn the walls of the Vaudois Parliament. The office of the Grand Council in extra-mural session and the head of the Department of Youth and Culture Education (DFJC) visiting the school were able to present together the first drawings of this clock which pays tribute to the regulators of accuracy of the early 20th century. It is a unifying and transgenerational project since it allows students to perpetuate regional know-how and because it is partly financed by the Union of Pensioners of the State of Vaud (UREV) and the Association for the development of economic activities in the Vallée de Joux (ADAEV).

With the appearance of a precision regulator from the beginning of the 20th century, the future Grand Council clock will function like its venerable ancestors from the 1930s-50s with a mechanical movement whose energy is provided by a weight. Its dimensions - height 1m50-80, width 50cm - will make it a unique and remarkable work.
