Whatever the material they work with, all crafts perpetuate ancestral traditions while adapting them to the modern world. Small visits before those organized for you on April 15, 16 and 17.
They are custodians of knowledge threatened by ever-increasing industrialization. They are tavillonneur, embroiderer, gilder-framer, glass blower or designer in bustiers. Art artisans are all passionate people who challenge the world around them by continuing the gestures of their predecessors. It is indeed the aim of the European Days of Crafts to discover these particular professions, this art which gives all its particularity to the objects it manufactures. For its third participation in this event, the canton of Vaud has greatly developed its offer of workshop visits.
This year, forty craftsmen (including twenty new ones) will open their doors to the 4,500 visitors who will have registered in advance. Places are obviously limited given the size of the workshops, even if they offer several visit dates.
Among the novelties, the construction site of the Château Saint-Maire, in Lausanne, will be open to visitors to admire the restoration of the mural paintings by Eric-James Favre-Bulle. And, still in Lausanne, the Espace Arlaud will bring together the engraver Patrick Maugard, the art embroiderer Marina Berts, the watch dial enameller Anita Porchet and the decoration painter Lola Sacier.
As for the craftsmen who are taking part for the first time in the operation, we find the cabinetmaker Olivier Boehn, the model maker Yves Gigon, the bow maker Denis Droz, the ceramist Monique Duplain, the luthier Hans-Martin Bader, the blacksmith Lewis Hofmann, painting restorers Lydie Berney, Céline Filipczak, stone sculptor Alain Vos, ornamental tinsmith Jérôme Bougouin, piano maker Matthias Maurer, engraver Raymond Meyer, binders Adeline Cardinaux and Tessa Wymann and jewelry designer Hélène Othenin-Girard. And others that we present to you below.
