Mylène Angi
Framer and binder
Porrentruy

« The art of supervising involves constant questioning and a balance that must be constantly sought and found. »

About

Daughter of an antique dealer, Mylène Angi has always been around books and paintings. She worked for several years in the field of biotechnology before reorienting herself towards bookbinding and framing. She trained in a workshop in Porrentruy and perfected her skills during various bookbinding and gilding courses, notably in Strasbourg and Japan. She opened her workshop in 2016.

« The bookbinder hates death: when he sees a book in a thousand pieces, he feels a visceral need to revive it, to give it a second wind. »

Mylène Angi’s studio is located in her home, in the former cure of Porrentruy. Here, she wields wood, aluminum or glass to frame works of art, photographs and other memorabilia. With know-how and creativity, she also manipulates leather, gold or paper to give life to books or to bring them back to life when they have been too marked by time.
