About
Christine Aschwanden uses ceramics to tell stories. Versatile, playful and poetic, his work moves across a wide range of artistic and applied work. The objects are held together by the narrative and the figuration which run through all of his works. Always a little weird and peppered with calm, often dark humor.
There is something beautiful, even cute, about the creatures created by Christine Aschwanden, and yet they are by no means harmless. The heads of sheep and rhinoceroses with their large empty eyes want to remind us that the trinkets they wear do not tell the whole truth. That they are too beautiful to be in this world. Because they hide the dark side from us.
