About
Specialized in the collection and restoration of old music boxes, Michel Bourgoz perpetuates this family tradition launched by his grandfather on Vaud soil.
Michel Bourgoz A true enthusiast, he collects and keeps in working order particularly rare automatons and music boxes. Anxious to preserve heritage and present it to the public, he became co-owner with his cousin Arlette Baud in 1995 of the Baud Museum in which he exhibited a large number of pieces. These, originally in poor condition, are generally acquired from private individuals or at auction and then are painstakingly restored in his workshop in the basement of the museum.
Once the work is done, Michel Bourgoz presents them to the public and regularly organizes exhibitions and sales. He repairs for museums, collectors and antique dealers all over the world.
Michel Bourgoz likes to explain the different stages of the restoration of a music box and to demonstrate the various techniques specific to this craft.
Some objects worked by his friend Denis Margot, another expert in the field and co-author of a reference work on this craft at Auberson, will also be exhibited.
