About
Born in Algiers in 1965, of Swiss and Haitian nationality, Amalita Bruthus trained in the conservation and restoration of art in Switzerland and abroad. In 2003, she opened her own workshop in Porrentruy and participated in many restorations, notably in castles, churches or hotels. In 2019, she won the first Métiers d’art & Patrimoine prize.
Amalita Bruthus’ workshop is divided into three parts. On the ground floor are the monumental objects on which she can carry out substantial interventions such as stripping. Upstairs is the "treasure room" which allows meticulous work and which includes a library. Finally, a room is devoted to the apparatus for analyzes and observations under the microscope.
