Olivier Fawer
Stonecutter
Lausanne

« The capacity of this material to reveal itself under the blows of the tailor fascinates me. It all starts with an "inert pebble" within which slumbers a shape to be brought to light. »

About

Olivier Fawer, born in 1963, completed his training as a stonemason with the Lachat & fils company in 1982. Once he became independent, he took part in numerous building restoration works in Switzerland and abroad. He is regularly commissioned by public services, architectural firms or private individuals to carry out expert studies.

« Cut stone has given rise to a very long chain of craftsmen who have worked for millennia for humanity. It is now my turn to participate in its sustainability. »

In 2004, Olivier Fawer opened his office L’Atelier Lithos and specializes in the study and expertise of historic buildings built in cut stone. He works, alone, on old buildings such as castles, churches or private homes.
