About
A graduate of the Cantonal School of Art in Lausanne, Simon Kroug worked for nearly ten years as an illustrator for publishing houses in Switzerland and France. He then decided to devote himself to his personal work in engraving in savings size. Since 2017, he has been co-manager of Relief atelier galerie, a space mainly dedicated to printmaking, engraving and custom framing.
Simon Kroug mainly uses engraving in savings size on linoleum or on wood, a technique considered against the current of our time by its slowness. He relies on instantaneous or memory photographs or sketches to make his engravings using traditional Japanese gouges, self-made inks and natural fiber papers.
