Cecilia Roger from Milan, after a doctorate in palaeography of the Middle Ages, very quickly became interested in all the traditional Italian embroidery techniques. Then, trained at the Ecole Lesage in Paris, she discovered Japanese embroidery, which allowed her to dive into the thousand-year-old tradition of the artisanal manufacture of needles, threads and natural dyes.
Cecilia Roger’s workshop is located in a former cabinetmaking workshop which she herself renovated, leaving the patina of time. In this place surrounded by mountains, cows and silence, she embroiders luxury bags and panels inspired by Japanese art. Her hands need between three and four months to embroider delicate works inspired by nature and the changing seasons.
