Created in April 2016 on the initiative of the Loewe Foundation and Jonathan Anderson, this prize celebrates culture and craftsmanship in its many forms, two pillars of Loewe.
This prize wishes to salute the importance of craftsmanship in contemporary culture and to recognize the know-how of artisans whose talent, artistic vision and desire for innovation can set a new standard in the future as expressed by the Director artist, Jonathan Anderson: “Craftsmanship is part of the essence of Loewe. As a House, we design craftsmanship in the truest sense of the term. This is where modernity resides and where it will always find meaning. ".
The 26 finalists of all ages were selected by a jury of experts made up of textile designers, jewellers, ceramists and journalists. During the deliberations, the jury chose creations for their technical realization, their innovation and the artistic look brought. The winner of the Loewe Craft Prize will be announced on April 10, 2017 in Madrid, and will receive 50,000 euros. His work will be exhibited in several cities such as Tokyo, New York or Madrid alongside that of the finalists.
