Fine Watchmaking Journal, text Yannick Nardin, September 20, 2019
Do you know many watchmakers who love mountaineering, snorkeling and the alphorn? Born from a line of Swiss watchmakers, David Candaux exudes tradition without risking gathering dust. Meeting with this new member of the Watchmaking Academy of Independent Creators (AHCI).
If you knock on the door of David Candaux, in the Vallée de Joux, perhaps he will open a watchmaker’s magnifying glass on your forehead, like a third eye! But the comparison with Hinduism stops there. David Candaux rather perpetuates a local tradition of a powerful historical romanticism: like the watchmaking farms of yesteryear, his house also houses his workshop. The building is located in Solliat, some 200 meters from the workshop of the famous independent watchmaker Philippe Dufour, a close friend of David Candaux. "It was he who pushed me to embark on the AHCI adventure and sponsored my candidacy, alongside Miki Eleta," explains the 39-year-old watchmaker.
But the most precious moments are those spent in the workshop working alongside my father. David Candauxhttps://journal.hautehorlogerie.org/fr/david-candaux-un-talent-horloger-atypique/
