Mandated for the second time in a row by the Obrist house, cooper Franz Hüsler made a two thousand liter barrel in the purest Vaudois style on the occasion of the Fête des Vignerons.
This barrel is decorated with sculpted motifs from the Festival poster: a starling, a butterfly, vine leaves, grapes and a ladybug that the craftsman wanted red. He wanted it to be made entirely in Vevey and therefore took advantage of the three folk markets last summer to work outdoors and introduce the public to his know-how. He estimates the production time for this unique piece, designed to last at least a hundred years, to be 150 hours.
In his Saint-Légier workshop, Franz Hüsler shapes barrels of several thousand liters, maintains and repairs damaged barrels. Currently looking for an apprentice, he wishes to remind that there is a Federal CFC of cooper and that despite its rarity it is indeed a profession.
