Jury report: nominations for the 2018 Twin Prize

The jury met on May 4 and 5, 2018 at the Ballenberg Course Center to choose the nominations.

The intelligence of the hand

Once again, the jury was impressed by the good design and the quality of the content of most of the files sent. Following lively discussions, the jury nominated the following 10 from among the 36 applications for “The intelligence of the hand”:

  • Françoise Bolli, glass artist, Yverdon-les-Bains
  • Sabina Brägger, sturgeon leather designer, Olten
  • Isabel Bürgin, textile designer, Basel
  • Sonja Henggeler-Gerber, ceramist, Wädenswil
  • Dominic Knecht, fashion designer, Zurich
  • Mazina Schmidlin-Könz, sgraffito designer, Zurich
  • Claudine Hartung, Claudia Lazzarini and Sonja Reichen, transalpine women’s project, Poschiavo and Zurich
  • Roger Weber, creator of automata, Niederlenz
  • Ramon Zangger, cabinetmaker, Samedan
  • Marco Zimmermann, wooden eyewear designer, Bern

The transfer of know-how

Among the 11 applications for "The transfer of know-how" the following 5 applications were nominated for the 2018 Twin Prize:

  • Haus der Farbe, “design in craftsmanship” course FA, Zurich
  • Josefina Eliggi and Luzius Schnellmann, ANNA & JUAN, Zurich
  • Stefan Jakob, ceramics and animation, Zurich
  • Philipp Kuntze, World Crafts, Bern
  • Margrit Linder, grass brushes, Meisterschwanden/AG

For each category, CHF 10,000 is available.

The winners will be selected on Saturday, August 25, 2018 and the award ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on the Novazzano state farm in the Swiss Open-Air Museum Ballenberg.

The exhibition of the nominated works and projects benefits this year once again from the hospitality of the Swiss Open-Air Museum Ballenberg, more precisely in the state farm of Novazzano and this until October 31, 2018. The exhibition will be documented in a catalog , edited in the Handwerk series (documentation from the Ballenberg Course Center).
