The stained-glass artist (master glassmaker) assembles flat pieces of glass, colored or not, using lead, and sometimes embellished with painted motifs called grisaille. They can also create glass slabs or use fusing techniques that combine different colored glass pieces.
This art school offers vocational training that combines the technical, creative, and cultural aspects of stained glass and glass decoration. Its aim is to develop research and expression skills, as well as the knowledge necessary for practical application. The glass artist creates their own stained glass and glass projects. They are also capable of adapting projects developed by artists outside the glassmaking field. If you have an interest in art, decoration, and a craft that engages both mind and hand; if you appreciate the poetry of light and colored shadows; if you seek independence, our school offers a possible training path.
The training to become a glass artist can be completed full-time at the school or through individual study. The program lasts 3 years. Classes are held in Monthey at the stained glass school.
