Cutler

The knife maker forges a block generally of steel. It refines the material by heat treatment then ensures the sharpness of the blade by grinding. He makes the handle in very diverse materials such as horn, wood, ivory, porcelain, carbon fiber... He finally carries out the assembly and finishing operations.
