Stonecutter

The stonemason is responsible for cutting, shaping and laying stone elements in the fields of architecture and decoration. He transforms natural stone and related materials (artificial stone, composite marble, etc.) from the raw form to the desired one. He must make the most of a block from the quarry to create elements such as arcades, vaults, facades, bases, staircase elements or furniture. Depending on their orientation, they produce objects or construction elements (furniture, staircases, monuments, etc.) or ornamentation (sculptures, tombstones, fountains, etc.).

Becoming a stonemason

Training is acquired through an apprenticeship with the award of a CFC in one of the following areas: sculpture, industry, construction and renovation, design and marble. Duration 4 years. Further training is possible.
