An upholsterer, also known as a furniture upholsterer or interior decorator, shapes fabrics to create textile decorations in interior spaces. They make and install draperies, curtains, drapes, and cushions. They also specialize in upholstering antique or contemporary chairs, which they then cover with fabric.
The initial vocational training for the Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC) in Upholstery and Decorating is acquired through an apprenticeship. It lasts 4 years. Classes are held in Selzach, SO. Further training is available.
