Franz Hüsler is the last cooper in French-speaking Switzerland. Originally from the canton of Schwyz, he trained at the Wine and Cooper School in Wädenswil. CFC in his pocket, he left for French-speaking Switzerland to learn French and fell in love with the region. Initially self-employed, he has now worked for more than twenty years in the company Volet SA in Saint-Légier.

In Saint-Légier, in his floor-to-ceiling wooden workshop, Franz Hüsler shapes barrels of several thousand liters. He also maintains and repairs damaged barrels. Winegrowers call on him when they have sealing problems, to replace the strapping, to change a stave, for the interior treatment of a barrel or for various bar or carnotzet fittings with old barrels.
